How to Recycle Shipping Boxes

We have featured post on how to recycle toner cartridges and paper saving tips but when we ship our products to you they are send in cardboard boxes. This post is to help you reuse, reduce and recycle those shipping boxes so you can continue your quest to be environmental friendly all the way.

Tip 1: Reuse Shipping Boxes: Take the label of the box and recycle it. Some companies print their logo and information right on the box and it might seem impossible to reuse but turning the box inside out allows you to have a brand new box. Yes just flip it inside out and add a new label.  Easy isn't it?

Tip 2: Take Labels out and use new ones: When you get a box with only a shipping label on it, take it out right away and reuse the box. Not sure how to do that well some labels come off easily but in case you are having some trouble follow this simple steps:

a) Use Paint thinner – Yes keep a pump-top bottle or squeeze dispense with non-flammable, none-aggressive solvent handy. When a shipping envelope or box arrives, squirt the solvent on the mailing label, wait about two minutes or so and then peel it right off. Make sure you allow the solvent to get under the edges of the tape.

b) If the labels or stamps are water-based then all you have to do is wet a paper towel, lay it on top of the label wait at least 10 whole minutes and then remove.

Tip 3: Sale them. Sure you can reuse them but what if you don’t ship regularly? Then sell them. There are several sites that will purchase your boxes like UsedCarboardBoxes.com or Boxsmart. Make a real difference and create a shipping box recycling group and together with other businesses, schools or just neighbors recycle your used boxes.

Tip 4: Invent!...There are thousands of ways you can reuse an old box. The following video will show you a great invention. I have two spare to store and it came in handy…
