- First you can tackle the outside of the printer. Make sure you turn it off first. Use a lint-free moistened cloth and wipe the outside of it. An old t-shirt made of 100% cotton is good for a rag.
- When using a cleaning solution purchased from the store, read the instructions. It must be safe for electronics and plastics. You can make your own solution by mixing one-part vinegar with one-part water. But don’t leave your rag too wet.
- Now for the inside! Ensure your printer is turned off and unplugged, and that it isn’t hot. Take out the paper trays. Remove the toner cartridge. Put it somewhere safe, like on a sheet of newspaper or the like. It is sensitive to light and can be damaged with exposure, so cover it with some paper once you remove it.
- Take a dry cloth that is lint-free to clean inside the toner cavity. If you have a printer brush, you can clean the printer mirror with it. But don’t mess with the mirror unless you have this brush provided with your printer tools.
- Without touching the sponge roller, clean the other rollers. Wipe away the dust and any spilled toner inside. Take out all paper fragments.
- Place the toner back inside and you are set to go!
