Tips to Clean a Canon Pixma Printer

There are two areas you should concentrate on to ensure your Pixma Printer continues to operate with efficiency. These are cleaning the inside, and also clean the printer waste ink absorber. When the inside is dirty, the paper will get smudged and not look as professional as it should. It’s very easy to clean and you should do this on a regular basis.

Tip 1 -Take a letter-sized paper and fold it in half, then unfold it. Go to the Menu and go to the option of Maintenance. Press the arrow keys until you come to Bottom Cleaning. Press OK and feed the paper into the auto-feeder and send it through. If it’s dirty when it comes out, do it all over again.
Tip 2 - Now for the waste ink absorber. Your Canon Pixma IP1000 has one. First you should wear thin latex gloves. You want to protect your hands from the ink. The waste ink pads are inside your printer on the right. They are very small. Remove the pads and holder. It will only take a gentle pull.
Tip 3 -Soak up as much ink as you can with a tissue, and clean around the area of the waste ink absorber.
Tip 4 -There’s another waste holder on the IP1500, which requires dismantling most of the printer. If you are going to tackle this one, you should take pictures of each step (maybe with your cell phone) so you can put it back together correctly. You will have to remove the drive motor to get to the waste holder, which is a sort of sponge. You can remove it and wash and dry it and put it back again.
Last Tip -When you’re all done, close up the printer and reboot. You’ll save on repair bills and maintenance bills if you do it yourself.
