What is the Different Between Remanufactured and Compatible Printer Ink Cartridges

To answer a very common question to IJJS Customer Service representatives, this article aims to set the difference and provide similarities between compatible cartridges and remanufactured cartridges. They could be thought of as brothers and they are the evil cousins of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cartridges. Why evil? OEM cartridges seem to thinks so because they are the same but cheaper and most people are turning to them for printing assistance. Getting right into our answer here are the definitions of each type of cartridge:

Compatible Cartridges:

  • Compatible cartridges are made by third-party manufacturer other than the original printer manufacturer and are compatible to the printer needs. These compatible cartridges meet or exceed OEM specifications 100% and are brand new; they yield excellent output and allow for big savings over OEM printer ink, inkjet cartridges or laser toner cartridges.

Remanufactured Cartridges:

  • Remanufactured cartridges are original cartridges which have been used and returned, factory cleaned, refilled to max capacity then tested for reliability. The remanufacturing process checks for the integrity of the cartridge housing as well as integrated nozzle, electronics circuits, replace drum, then filled with exacting ink or toner formulations. All remanufactured cartridges are thoroughly tested after assembly to ensure it meets or exceeds OEM standards. Remanufactured cartridges allows you to take a green stand towards environmental saving practices and helps you keep OEM cartridges from thousands of years of waiting to disintegrate in wastelands.

Similarities:

Compatible cartridges and remanufactured cartridges should be ISO-9001 approved and carry a guarantee long enough to help you feel secure. If a compatible cartridge or remanufactured cartridge provider can’t offer a long guarantee then what makes you think that they’ll last long when you used them?

Savings, savings, savings… the both offer you at least half off from OEM cartridge price difference and that definitely is something to take into consideration specially if printing is part of your daily activities.

I give credit where credit is due. I chatted online with "John" today explaining I could navigate the request for return page very well. In my defense....this part of the site sucks especially when your dealing with navigating it and cleaning up toner spill all over your printer at the same time. John fixed my faulty request form and re-assured me a new toner cartridge will be on its way. This might not sound like a big deal to some, but for me it was the helping hand I desperately needed.

Thank's for sharing Natasha!  We appreciate your credit and will take your input on our return page.   To be honest we never thought about doing it while cleaning up toner but it sure sounds difficult.  We do have a post here in our blog to help you with ink stains in your carpet.  Hopefully the mess didn't make it to the floor but just in case here you go.
