Why do I need to download a driver or software? In general, installing newer versions of drivers or other software can enhance the overall performance of your product as well as add new features. Updating drivers and software can also fix problems.
How do I download and install software and drivers?HP provides many free software and driver downloads. These files are available from your specific HP product’s Software and Driver Downloads page. Downloadable files come with instructions on how to download and install the applications for your specific computer model and operating system. When possible, you can save some time and initiate the software/driver install by clicking the “Install Now” button on the download page. When you do this, the file is temporarily saved to your computer and then begins the install automatically. If you choose to download the software or driver before installing it, make sure you save it somewhere easy to find such as on the computer desktop. Double-click the software file to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions until installation is complete.
What is the difference between a drum cartridge and a toner cartridge? For example an HP toner cartridge holds toner and dispenses it as needed to make copies (in a copier) or to prints pages (in a printer). The photoreceptor drum is the surface to which the toner adheres before being transferred to the paper. The drum has a long but finite useful lifetime and must be replaced occasionally. Some copiers/printers have drum cartridges which can be changed out by the user. The alternative would be to have a service person open the machine and replace the photoreceptor drum. So, a drum cartridge allows the user to replace the photoreceptor drum and a toner cartridge allows the user to replenish toner supplies.
Will using a remanufactured toner cartridge void my HP printer's warranty? No. According to HP printer manufacturers, using a remanufactured toner cartridge will not affect coverage under the printer's warranty.
Why switch to HP remanufactured cartridges from HP OEM/original cartridges? First reason is savings: HP ink cartridges that are remanufactured typically cost up to 40% less than new cartridges. Second reason is to help the Environment: Each cartridge that is recycled saves 2.5 lbs or more of plastic and metal from being dumped in a landfill. It also saves an average of 3 quarts of oil from being used to make a new cartridge. Going Green is highly important to us all.
My printer doesn't recognize the HP ink cartridge. If your HP ink cartridge is not recognized by your printer, check to see whether you are using the right cartridge for your model of printer. If you are, check that the cartridge is seated correctly in its holder, enabling the contacts to meet. This is done by removing the cartridge from the printer and putting it back in again carefully. If your cartridge is still not being recognized, switch off your printer, wait for a short period and switch it back on again. You should have a message on your screen telling you that you have not inserted an original cartridge. Confirm with yes and use your printer as normal.
Why are there streaks or weak image areas in my print outs? Any cartridge, new or remanufactured, can streak if the toner inside is not evenly distributed. To fix, remove the cartridge from the printer. Rock the cartridge back and forth, then gently shake it to evenly distribute the toner powder.
How do I find my HP model number? You can find the model number either in the upper left corner, or near the control panel as in the middle of the product depending on the different designs. Another method is to locate the number that appears inside the HP ink cartridge door, some products have a specific model number as well, and all you need to do is open the cartridge door. The model number consists of five characters. For example: A909a
