A Detailed Look at Inkjet Cartridges

Doing justice to our blog this article will explain, give additional info and fun facts on inkjet cartridges. Yes you read fun facts… why not? We gathered a few fun things to do with boring cartridges after you are done sucking the ink out of them. Anyhow going back to them the following is a detailed definition on what they are and how they work.

What is an Ink Cartridge?

There are two types of inkjet systems and manufacturers vary on the type they use. First you have the Thermal inkjet system that heats up a plate or resistor that is inside the ink reservoir with a small current to vaporize it into an air bubble so it can go into the nozzle with others to be then placed on the paper all in a manner of seconds if so. The piezoelectric inkjet system uses a piezoelectric crystal where the current is applied. The crystal changes size or shape and thus forcing the droplet out into the paper.

An ink cartridge then is the place where the ink is held and then dropped into the paper via small nozzles. The ink also acts as a coolant to the plate or crystal so it is recommended to be very careful when printing at low ink levels because if there is not enough ink to cool it down it can burn the print head and damage the entire printer.
