"Life would be just PERFECT with an endless printer cartridge and without printer problems”

Unfortunately life is not perfect every day and we still haven’t found an endless printer cartridge and printers keep having problems. We know that sometimes tossing the machine out the window might seem like the best solution and then hit it with an ax but before you kill your printing machine read on.

We will divide problems and solutions into several groups so you can find your specific issue fast and a quick fix explanation. Sometimes the problem has to do with inkjet cartridges, other with toner or paper jams.

Inkjet Printer Problems & Solutions

Problem A – Dark Lines when Printing
  • Solution: This could be a combination of things either low ink levels or print head clogging. So an easy way to find out is to check ink levels with your printers own software. Also take out the cartridge and clean the nozzles to unclog them.

Problem B – Printer says Cartridge is Empty but it still has Ink Inside
  • Some printers show an empty cartridge message before the cartridge actually runs out of ink. Yes your printer could be a liar! But you can hack it and be the smarter of the two by going around those messages. The best thing is to reset the cartridge so the printer reads the ink it has. The resetting instructions vary so do a search with your specific printer cartridge model. To help you out check some ways to reset HP Ink Cartridges by the guys at InkTec

Problem C – Wireless Printing is taking forever
  • The great thing about wireless is that you take all those pesky cables out of the way but you have to admit it has some limitations. In order to fix this problem the easiest solution is to position your printer the closest as possible from the router. You can also verify if the Wi Fi printer or wireless printer connection supports 802.11n spec

Laser Printer Problems & Solutions

Problem A – Dark Lines when Printing
  • Horizontal or vertical streaks, white vertical lines, or black blotches turn out when printing. Like with inkjet cartridges those signs could mean low toner levels. Also the problem could be debris in the path between the cartridge and the drum unit. A quick solution when you are getting dirty print outs it is to take the toner out and shake it a bit the cartridge to redistribute the toner evenly.

Problem B – The printer is taking too long to print and it uses up a lot of toner
  • Usually the higher the quality the more it takes for a printer to print. So a good way to fix that problem and save toner is to change the settings of the printer to draft mode. Use this mode for regular daily printing needs and only use high quality settings for photos or really important documents. Another way to make it print faster is to print without images.
