Increase the Life of Your Color Printer Cartridges with 3 Tips

We tend to think about color printing twice before hitting the print button. In some cases color printer cartridges cost higher than black cartridges, though it is safe to say that everyday now the cost of color and black ink is not so different. The following are three very important tips so you can increase the life of all your color ink.
1) Believe it or not a great way to increase the life of your color printer cartridges is printing. The thing is that we tend to think that if we don’t use ink it would last but if they just sit there unused they will dry up and then all together stop working. The best thing to do is to print something at least once a week. Try to schedule color printing even if it is a diagnostic test.
2) Choose the best paper for the job. Depending on the type of printing result you need, you can take advantage of the color ink by using the exact paper. What that means is that if you are printing photos use photo paper, if you are printing business graphics use inkjet paper etc. More than likely if you don’t use the right paper for the job you’ll end up printing more or not even use the ending result.
3) Preview before printing always. We tend to hit the print button prematurely and we would save ourselves from wasting color ink and paper if we just took an extra few minutes and preview the end results before sending the printing command.
Conclusion
There are more than 3 ways to increase the life of color printer ink of course. The above mentioned tips of increasing the life by printing at least once a week so the cartridge will not dry, using the right type of paper and previewing before printing are very important. As a bonus you can also print more for less by using compatible or remanufactured color printer ink instead of original cartridges that cost twice as much than non-original ones.

Another suggestion is to change your default printer settings to print in "draft" quality, especially if you print a lot of documents for internal use. Just change it to normal or high quality when it's important that you have crisp text and rich colourful images.
