A Guide on Where to Print When You’re On the Go

When you are away from the office and you need to print something, it can be a stressful experience. Whether you need to print out and sign an important contract while you are on vacation, you want to print out photos while out to dinner with friends, or you have any other reason to need to print something when you are nowhere near your printer or your office, you have options.

Here are a few places you can go when you need to print while on the go.

Office Supply Stores

When you don’t have your own printer nearby, an office supply store is one of the best places to go if you need something printed quickly and affordably. With Office Depot/OfficeMax Printing Services and Staples Cloud Printing, you can print documents with ease just about anywhere in the United States. Some smaller locally owned office supply stores may be able to help, too. Even if they don’t offer the service themselves, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Office supply stores that offer printing services typically have a lot of options. Whether you need to print one page or an entire book, they can usually help. Their rates are competitive, so you can probably print what you need for a lot less than the cost of a single printer ink cartridge.

Shipping Providers

You might not think about going to a UPS store or FedEx office when you need to have something printed, but it is actually a great option. Both shipping services offer printing and copying services at affordable prices. If you choose UPS, you can use the HP ePrint app for even faster printing while on the go.

UPS and FedEx also allow you to upload documents directly to their websites and order printouts before you even set foot in the store. You will just need to stop in to pick them up when they are ready.

Public Libraries

Many public libraries offer printing services. Their rates are generally affordable, and many branches now offer Cloud printing services.

You may also have some luck visiting a university library. The policies vary, from one school to another, though. Some gladly print documents for non-students for a small fee while others reserve printing services for enrolled students.

Keep in mind, though, that the library may not be the best place to go if you need to print several pages—especially if you are not a member or a student.

If you are traveling and need to print something, the hotel you are staying at may be able to lend a hand. Many locations have public printers either in the business center or at the front desk. If you are not sure, just ask a manager. He should be able to help.

Online Print Services

If you do not need to have something printed immediately, an online print service may be your best bet. There are countless companies that allow you to upload documents, photographs, etc. and have them printed. These services are especially useful when you need to print in large volumes, as they tend to offer options that are more cost-effective than purchasing your own printer ink. It is important to note, though, that it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks to receive your order, so online printing is not a good option when you are in a hurry.

Printing On the Go Made Easy

In most places, office supply stores and shipping providers are the best options, but you may have luck at a local library or a hotel (if you are staying at one). If nothing else, someone who works at any of the places listed above should be able to point you in the right direction if they are unable to help you.
